Description |
| Things to Think About Today: Where will the next generation of utility workers come from? |
45-minute presentation highlighting the issues surrounding an aging utility workforce and identifying the 5 basic action items that every utility leader must take to examine his/her system’s readiness for those changes. |
Leading Through the Gaps: The Generation Gaps
In this general session or highly interactive workshop, participants experience the differences among the four generations in today’s workplace and how those differences create challenges that MUST be addressed, including views on work itself and how to manage each generation effectively.
Using Coaching & Mentoring to grow and retain your utility workforce
A participative workshop (half-day or full day) on coaching skills (as opposed to supervisory skills) to create highly productive workers and strong results. Whether managing or working with a team, workers who use coaching skills create engaged and motivated associates.
Relationship Building Skills for the Shift from Industrial to Conceptual Economy
Another highly participative workshop, relationship building is all about “soft” skills—listening, understanding, empathizing and dealing with human beings—whether customers or employees. Relationships are directly related to workplace commitment, and commitment is one of two requirements for performance. (Capacity is the other.)
Your Leadership Legacy: Lights On? Or Lights Out?
A 30-60 minute general session challenging participants to recognize the huge business changes facing municipal utilities today and the consequences of accepting or ignoring those challenges. For municipal electric personnel with a legacy of hundred-year old systems, the Legacy can continue—or end—with them.
Coaching Old Dogs & Young Pups: Creating a Shared Legacy
Particularly relevant to municipal electric utilities, this program is focused on the significance of the system’s legacy within the community, passing on the values of the legacy while updating it for the next generation of leaders and using practical mentoring and educational approaches to do so.
